Softball Takes Finale on Senior Day
The Army West Point Softball Team won its final game of the regular season with a 7-0 victory over Saint Peter's on the tail end of a doubleheader on Friday evening at the Army Softball Complex. Prior to the games, Army honored firsties Ashley Yoo, Mae Wadyka, Izzy Gates, Renee Poirier, Maddie Kim and Carrie Reilly. Yearling Taylor Drayton paced the Army offense with three hits, three RBI and two runs in the second game, while Reilly tallied three hits on the day with two runs and a walk. Yearling Megan Muffett added three walks and a run scored. In the circle, Poirier was dominant in the first game, allowing just six hits and a run in 7.0-plus innings of work while walking two and striking out five. Cow Macey Newbary excelled in the night cap, earning her 10th win of the season with a complete game shutout. The Missoula, Mont., native scattered five hits and three walks while fanning a career-high 10 Peacocks. Read more.
