Josh Halu completed his Appalachian Trail thru-hike in memory of classmate and friend, Taylor Force ’09. He started his hike in Georgia on March 8, 2019, in dedication of the third anniversary of Taylor Force’s death from a terrorist attack in Israel. Josh completed the 2,200-mile, 14-state hike four months later in Maine on July 8, 2019. He carried Taylor’s dog tags for the entire hike. Josh was joined by Taylor’s parents, Stuart and Robbi, Taylor’s sister, Kristen, and Josh’s wife, Emily, for the final summit on Mount Katahdin at the northern terminus of the trail. A Force for Good Foundation was founded in 2018 in loving memory of Taylor Allen Force. The foundation strives to raise money for organizations that provide support for veterans, as well as other causes that were meaningful to Taylor. Taylor lived by the motto “God is first, others are second and I am third.” A Force for Good Foundation aims to continue this motto as Taylor’s legacy. To date, the foundation has raised and donated over $10,000 to the West Point Association of Graduates, Camp Stewart for Boys, K9s for Vets, and the USO.
