Hockey Snaps Streak, Defeats RIT at Home
The Army West Point Hockey team snapped RIT's nine-game unbeaten streak this past Friday night with a 2-1 victory in front of its home crowd. The Black Knights had yet another perfect penalty kill denying the Tigers on three chances, including a 6-on-4 advantage with under two minutes to play. Trevin Kozlowski was seven seconds away from his first-career shutout and turned away 23 shots.
Tucker DeYoung and Matt Berkovitz scored their first goals of the season tonight as John Zimmerman increased his point streak to three games. The Black Knights controlled the pace of play in the first period outshooting RIT 10-3. Army hit two pipes in the second frame before putting one in the back of the net. With 20 seconds remaining on the power play, DeYoung scored his first of the year to give Army a 1-0 lead. Read more.
