Following a strong weekend that saw him set a new career high in scoring against service academy rival Navy, Army West Point plebe point guard Jalen Rucker has been named GEICO Patriot League Rookie of the Week.
Rucker averaged 14.5 points, 2.0 rebounds and 2.0 assists to help the Black Knights split their weekend series against the Midshipmen in Annapolis. In Sunday's victory, he posted a career day on the scoresheet with 18 points on 5-of-10 shooting while dishing out four assists.
The plebe has started in all 13 games for the Black Knights this season.
In addition, firstie guard Lonnie Grayson received honorable mention from the league after leading Army in scoring in both games this past weekend. The firstie averaged 18.5 points and seven rebounds in Army's two game set.
The Patriot League Men’s Basketball players of the week are selected in a vote by League media members and each school's sports information director, who are not eligible to vote for their student-athletes.
