After being named the Patriot League Rookie of the Week, Brendan Nichtern of the Army West Point men's lacrosse team was voted the Army West Point Athletic Association Athlete of the Week as well as a member of the U.S. Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association Division I Team of the Week. The rookie attacker led the Black Knights with seven points on four goals and three assists including the game-winner. Nichtern is the first plebe to tally at least seven points in their first game in over 15 years. He scored four goals on just five shots for a .800 shot percentage. For the fifth year in a row, the Cadets topped #18/19 UMass in their season opener. The Black Knights will continue the start of their season on the road next weekend when Army faces #8/10 Rutgers.
