Women's Swimming & Diving Climbs to Fifth on Day Two
The Army West Point women's swimming and diving team broke an Academy record and catapulted all the way to fifth place after a successful second day at the Patriot League Championships. Navy maintained its lead with 334 points, with Boston U. (181), Bucknell (174) and Lehigh (164) finishing just ahead of the Black Knights (158). Army is followed by Loyola (91), Holy Cross (86), Colgate (77), American (70) and Lafayette (50). The day began with the 500 free and Meaghan McGovern finished seventh with a time of 4:57.79.
Whitney Chang then swam in the B-Final of the 200 IM and placed third at 2:04.41. Mia Rankin made her championship debut and took fourth in the 50 free at 23.31. Prior to Rankin's finish, Army won the B-Final after Madison Berg touched the wall at 23.15. On the 1-meter board, Serica Hallstead was the top-scoring cadet, coming away with a total of 260.20. The Cadets finished strong, claiming the second-fastest time in the 400 medley relay and setting an Academy record.
