Cadet, Faculty and Staff Dialogue About Cultural ConcernsThe Department of History, along with cadets, faculty, and staff from across West Point stood down from normal operations to dialogue with each other about cultural concerns within the institution that contribute to sexual harassment and violence. West Point Department of History faculty and staff facilitated discussions with cadets during breakfast and lunch in the mess hall, they led afternoon breakout sessions with cadets, and the Department engaged in extensive dialogue to develop ways to support the institutional effort to combat this problem.

Because of the structure of the West Point academic program, the Department of History is in a unique position to influence the entire Fourth Class during their plebe year. Faculty and staff remain committed to fostering a culture of empathy and respect and developing Leaders of Character who Live Honorably and Lead Honorably.
