Silva’s Career Day Lifts Army Past Binghamton
Led by attacker Miles Silva's career-high eight goals, the No. 18 Army West Point Men's Lacrosse Team topped Binghamton on the road, 15-6. Silva scored six goals in a row for the Black Knights including a natural hat trick. Nate Jones contributed a goal and four assists to also post a career-high in points with five. Brendan Nichtern tied his career-high four helpers in the game. AJ Barretto led the team in ground balls with four and made eight saves in the victory. For the seventh-straight game, the Black Knights were the first to get on the board. Jeremy Angle recorded his first tally of the year 6:07 into the action. A minute later, Nicholas Garofano drove to the right side of the cage, pulling Nate Jones' defender off him for the easy dump and score. With 5:38 on the clock, Johnny Surdick caused a turnover in Army's defensive zone. Marcus Hudgins picked up the ground ball and set up a quick transition goal for James Pryor, the first of his career. To start off the second quarter, Angle netted another off the iso play. Matt Manown put the Black Knights ahead 5-0 after he split three Binghamton defenders. The Bearcats scored their first of the day with 11:04 on the clock, but 20 seconds later the Cadets forced a failed clear to set up a score. Silva initiated the caused turnover and Jones picked up the loose ball. He found Pryor in the middle of the zone and the rookie scored his second of the game. Read more.
