Women's Track and Field Contends at UC Irvine
The Army West Point Women's Track and Field Team showed several strong performances in a good team effort at the UC Irvine Spring Break Collegiate Invitational. Army placed second with 183 team points, finishing just two points behind first place finishing Utah State. The Black Knights totaled five event victories, four of which came on the track. This has been a great week for us. The weather has been ideal and we were able to get a lot of good work in. The meets are really secondary to the training. Having said that, I am really pleased with how things went for us. We had some really impressive performances today. Our captains led us in a number of events. Calli McMullen is getting better and better. Her 200 today, while not a win, was a really good opening race. She has looked good all week in training and is handling a large workload. That will pay off later in the Spring. Lynne Mooradian was a little rusty in the 400mh, but still managed to win it and is also handling a lot of work. We ask a lot of her and she always gets the job done. Abby Halbrook had a light racing schedule after a loaded week of training and managed to put up a really strong 800m race. She is a good racer and that showed today in an event that is a little out of her comfort zone." said Head Coach Mike Smith. Read more.
