Women's Swimming Climbs Standings in Cleveland
The Army West Point Women's Swimming Team leaped five spots in the standings at the CSCAA National Invitational on Friday night. The Black Knights currently sit in 24th, out of 44 competing schools, with 45 points. Army is 14 away from a Campbell squad that ranks 23rd. The Black Knights opened the day with a 19th-place finish in the 200 medley relay. Lauren Carag, Rebecca Morel, Isabelle Malinowski and Meaghan McGovern combined to post a time of 1:44.11. McGovern later scored for Army in the 200 free after recording a time of 1:51.07, which was good for 18th. In the 100 breast, Morel notched a 16th-place finish at 1:03.62. Carag highlighted the 100 back once she touched the wall at 54.67. Her time was good a fifth-place showing. "It was a good day for both our men and women," head coach Mickey Wender said. "Lauren Carag swam a courageous 100 back to lead for 85 yards. All in all, we saw a lot of improvement and we're looking forward to wrapping things up tomorrow."
