AJ Barretto and Miles Silva of the Army West Point men's lacrosse team were awarded Patriot League weekly honors, announced by the league on Monday. Barretto earns his second Goalie of the Week honor of the season, while Silva was named Offensive Player of the Week for the first time in his career. Firstie goalie Barretto continues to raise the bar in net for the Black Knights. After facing 62 shots in two games, he allowed just 11 goals to boast an incredible 5.81 goals against average this week. He set a new career-high in saves against Holy Cross with 19 to increase his week total to 27.
Barretto started the game against the Crusaders with 11 saves to ensure the senior's .711 save percentage. The Darlington, Md., native recorded nine ground balls in Army's 2-0 week. Barretto's five versus Holy Cross tied his career-high as well. Barretto's .617 save percentage for the season ranks his second nationally and his 7.95 goals against average is third in the country. Currently, he backs the country's third-best scoring defense at 8.00. Silva had a career week for the Cadets and was the point leader in both contests. The junior attacker scored a career-high eight goals in the team's 15-6 victory over Binghamton, accounting for 53.3% of Army's offensive production. Read more.
