The Army West Point Softball Team split its midweek doubleheader at Siena after winning game one, 3-1, and falling in game two, 1-0, on Thursday. Cow right-hander Macey Newbary dazzled once again in the circle in the first game, allowing just one run on seven hits while striking out five in her fifth complete game of the season. The Missoula, Mont., native has won three of her last four outings. Firstie Renee Poirier was equally impressive in the night cap, surrendering a lone run on five hits and fanning four.
Offensively, firstie Carrie Reilly led the team with three hits on the day, including a double, and stole two bases. Yearling Taylor Livingston added a pair of base knocks on the afternoon, including a double of her own. She also drove in one of Army's three runs on the day. Plebe Madi Gilmore provided the spark in the first game with an RBI single to open the scoring for the visiting squad. Read more.
