Ultimate Frisbee Takes Second
The Army Ultimate Frisbee Team placed second out of sixteen teams in the Spring Awakening Tournament in Vineland NJ. Saturday, winds were at a consistent 25 miles per hour, with gusts up to 40 miles per hour, but Army was able to go 3-1 for the day beating Skidmore, Dickinson, and Rhode Island in 3 crosswind games, and lost the final game of the day to Boston University, a Division I Ultimate team, in the opening coin toss in an upwind downwind game where no team won a single upwind point.
On Sunday, Army went 2-1, losing in the finals by 2 points, which was determined in the final minutes. The wind was still quite present, but only around 10 miles per hour. In the finals, Army played the Bowdoin “Clowns” who placed 5th at DIII nationals last year. The game was quite close, but a few crucial errors by Army led to them losing by 2 in over-time. This tournament was a great success for the Army team and bolstered their confidence for the upcoming post season run.
