West Point Normandy Staff RideAs part of the West Point Department of History Normandy Staff Ride, cadets examined D-Day from the strategic, operational, and tactical perspectives of the various nations, units, and individuals who participated in Operation Overlord. Cadets walked the terrain and studied well known places like Sword, Juno, Gold, Omaha, and Utah Beaches; they visited Pegasus Bridge and discussed the actions of the British 6th Airborne Division and American airborne units at places like Brecourt Manor and La Fiere Bridge. Additionally, cadets grappled with more ambiguous topics like memorialization of death, leadership challenges, and morality in warfare.
