Firstie Madison Hovren added another postseason honor to her career accolades as she was named All-Met First Team by the Metropolitan Basketball Writers Association. Hovren was selected to the first team for the third-straight year and finishes her career with six postseason award citations between the MBWA and the Patriot League.
Hovren finished the season as the Patriot League leader in scoring and rebounding. The firstie averaged 19.1 points per game and grabbed 13.1 boards per contest. She reached double digits in 24-straight games to finish out her career and scored over 20 points in each of her last six outings. She became Army's all-time leader in rebounds in a single season by recording 394 in 30 games played during her firstie campaign.
The forward also became the third player in school history to reach 1,000 rebounds in a career after grabbing 11 against Navy on Feb. 16. She is only the second player in Army history to reach 1,500 points and 1,000 rebounds in a career. The Spokane, Wash., native passed Erin Anthony for second all-time in rebounds and capped her career with 1,071 boards.
Hovren is Army's all-time leader in double-doubles with 56 in her career and had 23 of them in the 30 games played during the 2018-19 season. Read more.
