Karate Takes First in the NACKC Tournament

Karate Takes First in the NACKC TournamentThe Army Martial Arts Team traveled to Boston, Mass. to compete in the NACKC National Collegiate Karate Tournament. The team performed exceptionally, winning the tournament over-all and claiming the title of National Karate Champions. Notable mentions go out to the Women's Beginner and Intermediate team for winning Gold medals in their "kumite" or sparring divisions. The Women's Beginner team consisted of CDTs Abigail Vickery, Jane Yan, and Kimi Walker. The Women's Intermediate/Advanced team consisted of CDTs Taylor Reim, Sarah Juhn, and Wonha Kim. The Women's Advanced as well as the Men's Beginner and Intermediate teams also placed, earning Silver medals in their "kumite" or sparring divisions. The Men's Beginner team consisted of CDTs Jeremy Good and Chris Jin. The Men's Intermediate team consisted of CDTs Madison Curry, Brock Curry, and Chris Jin. The Men's Advanced team earned Bronze in their "kumite" or sparring division and consisted of CDTs Matthew Galea, Benjamin Turner, and Richard Sung. Additionally, the Women's Beginner team earned Silver medals in their "kata" or form division.
