Army West Point Baseball saw third baseman Anthony Giachin capture his second Patriot League Baseball Player of the Week accolade on Tuesday. The yearling batting .440 (11-for-25) with seven runs, 12 RBI, four doubles and a home run to lead the Black Knights to a 4-2 week, including 3-1 in league play. He posted a .720 slugging percentage and reached base at a .516 clip during the week as well. Giachin also broke Army West Point's single-season doubles record, giving him 20 for the season, the sixth-best total in NCAA DI. The Livingston, N.J., native notched five putouts and 16 assists to his already solid resume for the week. Giachin garnered College Sports Madness Patriot League Player of the Week nods as well after his impressive week for the Cadets. He and the rest of the Army team welcome Villanova for a midweek contest on Wednesday before they travel to Worcester, Mass., for the Patriot League semifinals against Holy Cross this weekend.
