Cadets Discuss U.S./Vietnam Relationship with COL TeagueThe Vietnam Normalization Staff Ride discussed the military relationship between the United States and Vietnam and the Army’s ongoing humanitarian assistance mission in Southeast Asia with the Army Chief of International Affairs, Colonel Patrick Teague, and a Foreign Area Officer to Southeast Asia, David Bermingham at the Pentagon. Later, they visited the Vietnam Veteran’s Association’s National Headquarters to learn more about their mission and why the phrase "Welcome Home" is of such emotional importance to those who served in Vietnam. Cadets also analyzed the founding of the VVA after Vietnam Veterans found it difficult to find acceptance among more established Veterans organizations like VFW and the American Legion and learned more about the VVA's ongoing role in working to ensure veterans get proper medical treatment and benefits.
