Cadet In Charge for the Cold War Staff Ride, Cadet Collin Keogh; "We began the day with a visit to the Warsaw Uprising Museum. There we discussed how the historical memory of that event evolved under Soviet occupation and how the memory has changed since Poland regained its independence. We furthered that conversation with a trip to the Old Town. There we visited the Little Insurgent memorial which is dedicated to the children that participated in the uprising. Then we took a visit to the Uprising Memorial. We put these monuments in a historical context and compared them to memorials we visited of rebellions in Budapest and Prague. This helped us better understand how Poland has remembered the Warsaw Uprising and developed its national identity."
