CDT Hudspeth '21 Working at Temple UniversityChemistry major CDT Jared Hudspeth '21 and LTC Carl Lundell are working at Temple University creating numerous metal reagents to bring back to West Point for future scientific research. Using air-sensitive techniques, CDT Hudspeth successfully synthesized numerous metal bis(trimethylsilyl)amides to include bismuth, copper, tin, titanium and boron. The reagents will be used back at West Point and added to propellant stabilizer in hopes of developing a novel burn rate additive that will meet Army and DoD requirements. Some preliminary efforts are underway to grow novel crystals using the above described reagents, but even after asking for divine intervention, no such products have yet been observed.
