Cadets on Rocky Mountain AIAD
West Point cadets in the Department of Geography and Environmental Engineering took part in an Advanced Individual Academic Development (AIAD) course on geology. The AIAD is a three-week course taught in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado, with approximately 114 hours of instruction including 74 hours of field trips and labs. The remaining time is classroom instruction. The first week was first week at USMA, followed by travel to Colorado to the U.S. Air Force Academy. The emphasis is on learning to identify minerals and rocks then applying this knowledge to analyze and understand significant geologic processes.
