Firsties Zac McGraw and Keenan O'Shea of the Army West Point men's soccer team highlighted the Patriot League preseason accolades on Thursday morning.
McGraw, who is a two-time Patriot League Defensive Player of the Year, received preseason defensive player of the year praise for the third consecutive season. This news comes after the Torrance, Calif., native was named to the MAC Hermann Trophy Watchlist a week ago. Meanwhile, O'Shea picked up preseason honors for the second straight year.
In addition to the individual accolades, the Black Knights were chosen to finish fourth in the preseason poll with 108 points, which is the team's highest selection since being picked to place second back in 2014. The reigning regular season champs, Loyola, earned the first spot in the poll with 156 points and a league-best 12 first-place votes. The three-time defending league champions, Colgate, were chosen second with 147 points and eight first-place votes, while Lehigh (128) rounded out the top three.
Preseason voting was compiled by the league's head coaches and sports information directors, who were not permitted to vote for their own players. Read more.
