Game Notes: Army Opens Under the Lights
The Army West Point football team opens the 2019 slate on Friday night August 30 under the lights with a 6 p.m. kickoff against Rice on CBS Sports Network.
Army starts the year on a Friday night for the fifth-straight season and at home for the first time since 2017.nThe contest will air live on CBS Sports Network with Ben Holden, Ross Tucker and Tina Cervasio on the call. • The Black Knights are coming into the 2019 season on a nine-game winning streak, which is the second longest active winning streak in college football behind only national champion Clemson.
• Heading into the year, Army is on the outside looking in when it comes to the national polls. The Black Knights are receiving votes in both the USA Today Coaches Poll and the Associated Press Poll.
• Army is looking to increase its home winning streak to 14 games, a streak that goes back to the final game at Michie in 2016.
• Since the start of the 2017 season, the Cadets have won 21 of their last 26 games for a .807 winning percentage and are 21-3 over the last two seasons when kicking off prior to 7 p.m. Eastern. Read more.
