WPS of Michigan Summer Picnic and Cannon DedicationThe West Point Society of Michigan celebrated a summer picnic and dedication of several Civil War era Parrot Cannons on August 17, 2019 at historic Fort Wayne in Detroit, Michigan. The forts officers mess hall was decorated and hosted both a historical review of the fort by the Detroit Historical Society as well as hosted almost 60 graduates, families, and volunteers for a picnic. The event began with a review of the fort's history by David Jamroz and the Detroit Historical Society. After a short briefing, a full tour of the battlements and buildings occurred, culminating in a cannon dedication ceremony complete with re-enactors from the Civil War era who fired several of the parrot rifles, much to the crowd's delight. The Master of Ceremonies for the day was Jim Suhay '66. Major planning committee members were Chris Haag '07 and David Jamroz
