Army Hockey Slated Eighth in Preseason Poll
With just over a week until the start of the 2019-20 season, the Army West Point hockey team has been slated to finish eighth in the Atlantic Hockey Association Preseason Poll, announced by the league.
"The release of the coaches poll means one thing - that the season is right around the corner," said head coach Brian Riley. "Our players have worked extremely hard during the preseason and are looking forward to the start of the season. It should be another exciting season in Atlantic Hockey and as always we will be hoping to play our best hockey coming down the stretch heading into the playoffs."
American International, the reigning AHA Champions, was first in the poll with 10 first-place votes and 100 total points. Niagara jumped up this season to second in the poll with 78 points, while Bentley and Sacred Heart tied for third with 77 points. The Falcons garnered the last remaining first-place vote.
The RIT Tigers ranked fifth (66), while Air Force (60), Robert Morris (46), Army (38), Mercyhurst (25), Holy Cross (21) and Canisius (17) rounded out the poll.
