The Army West Point Volleyball team won its fourth consecutive match on Saturday as it defeated conference opponent Loyola (Md.) in straight sets. The Black Knights (15-6, 6-2 PL) played one of their most complete matches of the year, hitting at .379 percentage in the match with eight blocks and six aces across the match's three sets. The team committed just eight attack errors in the match.
"I am very proud of how the team stayed tough and focused on the mission today," Head coach Alma Kovaci Lee said. "Our focus and intensity were the best they have been this season and it showed in our play."
Army was strong from the start, hitting at a .500 percentage in the first set. Yearling Emmy Barnhorst record five of her match leading 10 kills in the first frame. The Cadets also recorded four of the team's six aces in the first set. Two Black Knights recorded four kills in set two, as firsties Sydney Morriss and Allie Strong led the offense in the second en route to a .429 percentage.
The third set was won at the net for Army, as the team posted five of its eight blocks. Army won the third set 25-16. Read more.
