The Army West Point Rifle team earned a second place finish in the All-Academy President's Trophy Saturday morning at the Tronsue Marksmanship Center.
The Black Knights finished with an aggregate score of 4669, behind only Air Force (4682). Navy (4664) and Coast Guard (4567) took third and fourth place respectively. By the service academy scoring system Army posted an aggregate score of 5817, which was also good for second place.
"It was a decent day. It feels good to be shooting this well at the beginning of the season," said head coach Web Wright. "We have two NCAA qualifying scores on record and there is still room to improve."
Army had a pair of shooters finish in the top-five aggregate scores, with Clayton's 1177 earning him the second highest score and Lauren McMahan's 1173 taking fourth place. Read more.
