Army West Point Men’s Club Hockey team defeated Navy 7-3 at the inaugural Capital One Classic in Washington, D.C., continuing their dominance in the rivalry. Standout CDT Bobby Staring ’26 shone with two goals and an assist, including the first and final tallies of the night. CDT Caleb Kaiser ’25, a firstie center, matched Staring’s three points with a goal and two assists, including the game-winning play.

Goalie CDT Liam Monahan ’27 delivered an incredible 36-save performance, earning praise from his teammates. “Mono showcased, again, that he is one of the best goalies in the ACHA,” said team captain CDT Anthony Chambers ’25, who led the team in blocked shots and hits.

The Black Knights jumped to an early 2-0 lead and never trailed, sealing their third consecutive victory over Navy. They have outscored their rivals 17-7 in the last three matchups. “Thursday evening was a special night,” said Chambers. “Beating Navy with your brothers in front of family and friends on that stage is priceless.”

West Point and Navy players posed for a joint photo after the game, reflecting the mutual respect shared off the ice. “Even though we are enemies on the ice, those guys are our teammates again once the final buzzer sounds,” Chambers said.

Army followed up the historic win with a hard-fought loss to George Mason the next day, but the Black Knights remain undefeated in Division 2 play with a 14-1-3 record. Staring continues to dominate with 40 points (22 goals) in 18 games, solidifying his status as one of the team’s brightest stars.
