Women’s Tennis Splits Opener with Akron and CincinnatiArmy Women's Tennis opened the 2020 season with a 1-1 split. After opening the day with a setback to Cincinnati, the Black Knights fought back for a 6-1 win over Akron.

MATCH 1: Cincinnati 7, Army 0

In doubles action, Army's Caroline Vincent and Stephanie Dolehide picked up a nice 6-2 victory over UC's Ioana Guna and Caroline Morton in the No. 1 double bout. Army dropped the other two double matchups.

With Cincinnati leading 1-0, the match moved over to singles action. Army's Ana Joyner battled tough in the No. 1 matchup, where she eventually fell 10-8 in the tiebreaker set. Elizabeth Gilbert also forced a three-set match-up and fell in the third set, 7-5. Maryjo Pidgeon also fought in a three-set matchup in the No. 5 bout, eventually falling 6-3 in the third set. Read more.
