Men's Lacrosse Slated Second in Patriot League Preseason PollWith the season right around the corner, the Army West Point Men's Lacrosse team was picked to finish second in the Patriot League Preseason Poll, announced by the league on Monday.

Right off a 2019 Patriot League Championship, the Black Knights shared equal points with Loyola in the poll at 111 but received seven first-place votes to their eight which placed them second. Lehigh follows with 99 points and three first-place votes and Boston U. (76) and Navy (59) round out the top-five.

Brendan Nichtern, Matt Manown and Tom Rigney were all named to the Preseason All-Patriot League team.

Nichtern returns as the team's top attacker after leading the squad with 80 points in his plebe campaign setting multiple records along the way. He was named All-America Honorable Mention last season and was a member of the Second Team All-Patriot League team.

Manown was the team's top midfielder in 2019 with 33 points on 19 goals and 14 assists. The captain also notched 12 multi-point games to earn second team honors last season.

A key player in the Black Knights' transition game, Rigney produced a personal best 51 ground balls averaging 2.83 per game. Read more.
