Speech and Parliamentary Debate at RMC
The Speech and Parliamentary Debate Team competed at the Royal Military College of Canada (RMC) as part of the larger RMC/USMA Exchange. This debate competition carries on a tradition that has been ongoing for over thirty years. The event consisted of friendly debates in which USMA and RMC debaters paired to make teams with representatives from each school.
These mixed teams debated in a tournament with topics included gun control, religion, and automotive industry reform. The final phase of the exchange was the showcase debate in which the two schools competed against one another.
The debate topic was about selective contentious objection, and this showcase debate was judged by the RMC Principle Dr. H.J. Kowal (BGen Ret’d); the Director of Cadets, Col C. A. Heilman; and USMA’s Debate Team Advisor, MAJ DiLorenzo. While the RMC team was victorious during the Showcase debate, all debaters represented USMA well.
