Thanks to seven-run sixth inning and a gem on the mound from Emily Iannotti, Army West Point Softball bested Charleston Southern, 9-2, Sunday at the CSU Softball Complex to pick up its third straight victory.
The contest was low-scoring early on with the Buccaneers (3-7) holding a slight 1-0 lead through the first five innings of play. Though, the Black Knights' (8-7) bats came to life in the top of the sixth with Army scoring seven runs before there was an out recorded in the inning.
In its last three games, Army has scored a combined total of 25 runs in the final two innings of play. Emily Iannotti pitched a complete game with 12 strikeouts and allowed just two earned runs to improve to 3-0 on the year. Brook Mitchell and Taylor Drayton each had multi-hit games. Jolie Duong launched her second home run of the season and the third of her career. Her three RBIs ties her career high which she set last year at Lehigh. Read more.
