USMA Staff Ride to Ireland
Over Spring Break, History Department faculty and ten cadets will conduct a staff ride to Ireland to study the origins of nationalism and unionism. Cadets will visit sites in Dublin, Derry, and Belfast to understand the complex, competing visions for an Irish state and how ideas and events have shaped public memory in Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland. Cadets have met several times to study noteworthy events throughout the long history of Anglo-Irish relations. Most recently, CPT Andrew Campbell gave a talk on the First World War and 1916: The Easter Rising.
