Army West Point Football running back Tyrell Robinson was named to the Football Writers Association of America (FWAA) Freshman All-American watch list, the organization announced Tuesday morning.
Robinson was one of 10 running backs named to the watch list. Among freshmen, he ranks eighth nationally in rushing yards having amassed 298 yards on just 33 carries in the first six games of his career. Robinson is one of just two players in the nation to have more than 290 rushing yards on fewer than 35 carries. He is currently averaging 9.0 yards per carry.
The Dallas, Ga., native impressed in his collegiate debut with 94 rushing yards on just nine attempts, including a long rush of 37 yards. He recorded his first career 100-yard rushing game against Abilene Christian on Oct. 3, finishing the contest with 126 yards on just seven carries. He became just the 15th player in program history have a 100-yard game with seven or fewer rushing attempts. His average of 18.0 yards per carry was the 11th best average in a 100-yard rushing game in program history.
This year's FWAA Freshman All-American team will represent the 20th since its inception and feature a list of 7 semifinalists and 3 finalists later this season leading up to the unveil of the Shaun Alexander Freshman of the Year.
