This will be Army's second competition this season. The Black Knights are coming off a shut out 39-0 win over service academy rival Navy. Alex DiMarco was the driving force on offense, amassing six penalty kick points and eight points in successful conversions. The Black Knights also saw scores from Julia Riekena, who led the offense in tries with two, Abrianna Williams, Charisma Henry and McKenzie Borchers.
“In our current global situation, we try to look for every silver lining that we can. In this case, playing rugby during a pandemic has come with challenges, but it has opened up a pathway to compete against a team we haven't yet played in the history of our program," said assistant coach Kaitlyn Kelly. "We are hopeful that this will establish a playing partnership with the Coast Guard Academy in years to come.”
Army will be honoring the hard work and dedication of their seven senior classmen including captains Eleanor Burnett and Sydney Dawson as well as Hailey Hodsden, Charlotte Kuhn, Meeah Mazikowski, Alexis Smalls and Abrianna Williams.
“With all of the uncertainty of 2020, we are very excited to be able to celebrate our seniors on our final game of the fall season," said Kelly. "Their contributions to the program the last three years speaks volume to who they are not only as rugby players, but as individuals and future Army officers. The team is grateful that they have the chance to honor this senior class and hopefully send them off in a proper fashion and end this season on a high note with a victory.”
The senior day festivities will begin 30 minutes prior to the start of the game. Athletes from both sides have complied with their institutions' and conferences' respective COVID-19 testing guidelines ahead of the competition. The game will be closed to outside spectators but will have a live video stream of the game.
