Women’s Basketball Picked Eighth in Preseason Poll

Women’s Basketball Picked Eighth in Preseason PollThe Army West Point Women’s Basketball team was selected to finish eighth in the Patriot League preseason poll.

The Black Knights finished with 59 points in the poll, which was one more the ninth-ranked Holy Cross and three fewer than Loyola, which was slated to finish seventh. The poll was voted on by the league's head coaches and sports information directors.

Army (3-2) and Navy (0-4) were granted the opportunity to play a non-league slate because both service academies are unique in their environments and their missions within higher education.

Dating back to last season, the Black Knights have won seven of their last 12 games. Three of Army's losses during that stretch were by six or fewer points.

Alisa Fallon, an All-Patriot League Third Team selection from a year ago, and Kate Murray are each averaging over 15 points this season. Additionally, Murray is averaging a double-double with 10.2 boards per game.

League play starts up this weekend. Army will host Colgate for a pair of games in Christl Arena with the first tilt set for 3 p.m. on Saturday, January 2 and the second for 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, January 3. Read more.
