Army West Point athletics announced its Corps Squad Athletes of the Month for March. Kyle Beyer (Men's Lacrosse), Taylor Miller (Women's Lacrosse), Geoff Kirk (Men's Track and Field) and Anna Tovkach (Women's Track and Field) were the March recipients.
Beyer, a Firstie from Morris Plains, NJ, is a civil engineering major from Company H-3. He earned Dean's List status five times while also contributing on the field at multiple positions. After playing in half of the team's games as a Plebe, Kyle played in all 18 games for Army during the Spring 2019 season, followed by appearances in all 8 games in the shortened 2020 season. In 2019 he helped Army to victory by causing three turnovers and collecting three ground balls in the Patriot League championship game against Lehigh. Last season he finished second on the team with a total of 26 ground balls in eight games.
Head Coach Joe Alberici said “Kyle epitomizes everything we look for in our young men, as a student, as a player and most importantly as a teammate. He has excelled in the classroom, in arguably one of West Point's most difficult academic majors. On the field, he has done everything the coaching staff has asked of him, to include switching positions to close defenseman in his senior season, after playing in every game of the last two seasons as a long-stick midfielder. As a teammate, he is a terrific leader. He is always willing to help everyone else in our locker room, in any way he can. I know Kyle will go on to achieve great success in the Army and in life.” Read more.
