The Army West Point Men's Lacrosse team was well-represented on the Inside Lacrosse Midseason All-America list as Brendan Nichtern, Wyatt Schupler and Marcus Hudgins were all honored yesterday evening.
Nichtern and Hudgins were named to the second team, while Schupler was an honorable mention honoree. The trio are among the top players in the nation and were named to the Tewaaraton Award Watch List earlier this season for the country's top lacrosse player.
Nichtern leads the nation in points per game with 6.33 per contest and has three games with seven or more points. He has 19 goals and 19 assists for 38 points in six games and has tallied 19 points against three ranked opponents this season. He ranks fifth in assists per game at 3.17.
Hudgins is the leader of the Army defense, which ranks 15th in the nation in scoring defense. He is seventh in the country with over two caused turnovers per game. Hudgins continually covers the opponents' top player. He held 10th-ranked Lehigh's top scorer Tommy Schelling to no points last Saturday.
Schupler is among the top goalies in the country and is 15th in save percentage and 18th in goals against average this season. Schupler has made double-digit saves in five of six games this season with a season-high 17 against Boston University on March 6. He stopped 13 against Syracuse in Army's 18-11 victory.
The Black Knights are back in action this weekend against No. 12 Loyola in Baltimore on CBS Sports Network with the opening faceoff at 1pm.
