The Army West Point Women's Rugby team fully embraced their long-anticipated return to the Anderson Rugby Complex on Friday, as the Black Knights earned three 7's victories against the LIU Sharks.
Army opened up the night with a 40-0 victory in the opening game. Hailey Hodsden scored two tries to lead the way. Firstie captain Eleanor Burnett matched Hodsden's 10 points with five conversions. Alexis Smalls, Kaylee Cargile, and Rebecca Syrup would each cross the try line as well for Army.
The Black Knights remained strong after a resilient Sharks team came out strong in the second affair. After going down 5-0, Army would bounce back to win 22-5. Sydney Schaff led the way with 10 points on two tries. Nicole Wantlin added a try and a conversion, and Samantha Gunn rounded out the scoring with a try of her own.
Army kept its foot on the gas in the final game of the night. Schaaf would add two more tries to lead the way in a 34-8 win. Gillian Scott, Syrup, Julia Riekena, and Emma Richards-Smith would each cross the try line. Kaitlyn Schwarting chipped in two conversions. Read more.
