The Black Knights swept a two-game doubleheader at Lehigh this past Saturday afternoon, defeating the Mountain Hawks 5-4 in game one and 6-2 in game two. The Black Knights (14-12) outhit Lehigh (12-11) 18-10, highlighted by a 12-hit performance in game two. In game one, the Black Knights jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the third inning, with Carter Macias driving in the first run on an RBI double. The Black Knights took advantage of one of two Lehigh errors on the day to plate the second run and Anthony Giachin delivered a sac fly to plate the third run of the day.
The Mountain Hawks answered right back with two runs in the bottom half of the third, but starter Anthony LoRicco was able to get out of the jam without any further damage. He earned the win on the day as he went 4.0 complete, allowing three runs on just one hit with three walks and two strikeouts. The Black Knights added two more in the fifth on an RBI single from Ross Friedrick and an RBI groundout by Kevin Dubrule.
Up 5-2, Lehigh battled back with a run in the fifth and another in the sixth, but closer Ray Bartoli finished off his third inning of work in the seventh inning to finish off his second save of the year. The win to LoRicco is his second of the year as he improved to 2-1. In game two, the Black Knights wasted no time getting on the board, as they jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the first on an RBI double by Sam Ruta. Lehigh answered right back, however, as Rother delivered a solo home run to tie the game, 1-1. The Black Knights answered right back with two runs of their own in the top of the second, with RBI singles from Simoes and Giachin.
Up 3-1 in the second, that's all the Black Knights needed, as they did not relinquish the lead through the final seven frames. Read more.
