Three members of the Army West Point Men's and Women's Track and Field teams earned Patriot League weekly awards, the league office announced yesterday.
Geoff Kirk was tabbed the men's field athlete of the week, Emily Mikoud was the women's field athlete of the week and Luke Griner was the men's rookie of the week.
Kirk won the shot put with a program-record and IC4A-qualifying distance of 19.21 meters in the Army Twilight Meet against Albany and St. John's. His throw is the best in the Patriot League and 18th in NCAA DI this season. He also finished third in the discus with a throw of 52.27 meters.
Mikoud posted three ECAC-qualifying distances and won the shot put (15.28m) and discus (48.28m) at the Army Twilight Meet against Albany and St. John's. She set a personal record in the hammer throw with a heave of 59.12 meters, the second-best mark in school history, in addition to ranking second in the League and 73rd in NCAA DI.
Griner won the 800 meters at the Army Twilight Meet against Albany and St. John's with an IC4A-qualifying time of 1:49.94. His time is the best in the Patriot League this season and the 75th fastest time in NCAA DI this season.
