SPEAR-Hypersonic Rocket Team Initial ResultsInitial results- hypersonic speed achieved of Mach 5.03 and inertial distance of 84 km! That is well into a near vacuum of the area transitioning between the mesosphere and thermosphere. The Federal Aviation Administration, U.S. Air Force, and NASA, define space as an altitude of 80 km (50 miles) and awards astronaut wings to astronauts who fly above an altitude of 50 miles, or approximately 80 kilometers. Congratulations to the team from West Point Civil & Mechanical Engineering, Physics & Nuclear Engineering, and Chemistry & Life Sciences. Well done!

The Army West Point Women’s Rugby Team impressed on the road May 1, as the Black Knights defeated Service-Academy rival Navy in four straight 7's rugby contests. Army was split into two units (Black and Gold), with both teams playing two games apiece. The Black team won its first contest 10-5, before coming alive for a 46-0 victory in game No. 2.
