Pasiuk Tabbed to Amateur Wrestling News All-Rookie Team
Army West Point Wrestling’s Ben Pasiuk, an EIWA Champion, has been named to Amateur Wrestling News' All-Rookie Team, the publication announced last week. One of just 30 freshmen in the nation to be recognized, he is the first Black Knight honoree since 2006.
Pasiuk put together one of the best rookie campaigns in program history, culminating in Army's first-ever EIWA title earned by a plebe. The Ohio native's season was highlighted by his first collegiate win, a major decision over Lehigh (20-11), as well as a major decision during the Star Match against Navy (12-3).
His success during the regular season translated to the postseason, as he took home the 174 crown at the 2021 EIWA Championship, becoming the first Black Knight to win the weight class since the 2000-01 season (Maurice Worthy). Pasiuk entered the NCAA Championship as the No. 17 seed, but his campaign eventually came to a close in the second round of the tournament, finishing his year 7-2.
With Pasiuk's help, Army posted its second-best team finish in program history at the EIWA Championship, closing out the competition with 119.5 team points. The Black Knights earned their second-consecutive third place finish at the event and went on to send seven wrestlers, including Pasiuk, to the NCAA Tournament.
