Dolehide Earns ITA Northeast Regional Award
Stephanie Dolehide, a rising senior on the Army West Point Women’s Tennis Team, was named the northeast region's recipient of the 2021 ITA Arthur Ashe Leadership & Sportsmanship Award in a release put out by the organization on Monday morning.
The regional awards, which are each distributed to 12 players across the country, put student-athletes on the ballot for national recognition. Those honors will be announced next Monday during a special virtual awards ceremony, hosted by the ITA. Dolehide is the only player from the Patriot League to be represented on the regional list. Dolehide is the first player in program history to collect an ITA Regional Award, though head coach Paul Peck has received numerous honors including an ITA Achievement Award in 2015.
The ITA's Arthur Ashe Leadership & Sportsmanship Award recognizes outstanding student-athletes in all divisions at the regional and national levels. The prestigious award, which dates back to 1982, goes to NCAA divisions I, II and III, NAIA and JUCO men's and women's players who have exhibited outstanding sportsmanship and leadership as well as scholastic, extracurricular and tennis achievements.
Dolehide, a 2021 First Team All-Patriot League selection and a member of the conference's Doubles Pair of the Year, has racked up a career record of 34-19 in singles play and a 31-13 mark in doubles in three years as a Black Knight. The recipient of Army West Point's prestigious Coach K Award has held numerous leadership positions during her time as a cadet and co-founded the organization “Empowered Women Empower All”, which aims to provide inspiration to others via the sharing of stories from leaders.
