CDT Fernandez AIAD at the Counterterrorism BureauGreat work by CDT Javier Fernandez ’22 and his mentors for setting up an enriching summer experience! Javier is spending six weeks with the US State Department’s Counterterrorism Bureau, monitoring developing terrorism, other security-related events, and counterterrorism policy issues specifically related to Africa and Racially and Ethnically Motivated Violent Extremism (or REMVE).

He has conferred with officials, analysts, and action officers in the State Department and various interagency organizations to clarify divergent viewpoints and build consensus for courses of action acceptable to the Department and the U.S. Government.

He has also been researching policies that address counterterrorism issues affecting countries across the world. We have 394 cadets from across the academic departments doing academic fieldwork through our Advanced Individual Academic Development (AIAD) Programs.
