Robotics Team Presents Research on Unmanned Aircraft

Robotics Team Presents Research on Unmanned AircraftDr. Jinho Kim, CDT Kevin Lin, Mr. Dominic Larkin, and COL Christopher M. Korpela from the Robotics Research Center (RRC) presented their research, “Detecting and Localizing Objects on an Unmanned Aerial System (UAS) Integrated with a Mobile Device,” at the 2021 International Conference on Unmanned Aircraft Systems (ICUAS). They developed a quadrotor UAS capable of autonomous flight in a GPS-denied environment that can detect objects of interest and localize them in three-dimensional (3D) space using vision-based sensors. Additionally, the Android Team Awareness Kit (ATAK) user interface is integrated with the quadrotor UAS for real-time monitoring.
