Cadets on the Gettysburg Staff Ride

On the final day of the Road to Gettysburg Staff Ride, cadets and instructors walked key sectors of the Gettysburg battlefield, examining not only Longstreet’s Assault, but also lesser-known actions, such as the 8th Ohio’s flank attack and the 14th Connecticut’s skirmishing prior to the assault. The group also discussed memory and meaning, with a discussion about the Myth of the Lost Cause at the Virginia Monument and the power of Lincoln’s Gettysburg Address in the National Cemetery.
