Cadets Visit Lincoln Laboratory & Haystack Observatory

Published on April 12, 2022

Space Physics cadets traveled to Massachusetts to visit the Lincoln Laboratory and the MIT Haystack Observatory. In the morning, they received various briefings from several space scientists at the laboratory then visited the Haystack Observatory where they got to see and learn about the large 37-meter HUSIR radio telescope and several radar systems used for ionospheric research. The trip was an excellent opportunity to connect their course curriculum to active areas of research that contribute to our understanding of the space domain and national security. Opportunities like these are made possible by the Margin of Excellence.
