R-Day for the Class of 2026

One of West Point’s longest traditions, Cadet Basic Training (CBT), began with Reception Day on June 27. More than 1,200 students reported to West Point to join the West Point Class of 2026. During R-Day, the cadet candidates begin the process of becoming part of the cadet cadre and future U.S. Army officers. They undergo administrative processing, are fitted with their initial issue of military clothing, receive haircuts, medical and physical evaluations, and begin their first lessons in marching, military courtesy and discipline. WPAOG and the 50-Year Affiliate Class of 1976 were present throughout the day to welcome the new cadets and their families into the West Point family.
