Cadets Learn How to Design a Concrete Mix
Published on September 15, 2022
The CE483, Design of Reinforced Concrete, lab program uses a hands-on approach to teach cadets how to design a concrete mixture to meet strength requirements and use modern laboratory equipment to measure the mechanical properties of the designed mix. The first three labs of the program include mix design, the tying of a reinforcing cage for a reinforced concrete beam and casting a reinforced concrete beam using their mix design. During the casting process cadets learn the test procedures used for quality control of concrete in the field.
